1. Who is responsible for your information?
Numberli ("Numberli", "we", "us" or "our") is the service described in this policy. Numberli is intended to be operated by a company currently being established in Egypt. That company has not yet been incorporated or registered, so it does not yet have a registered legal name or registered address. Until registration is complete, this page is a pre-launch policy draft. The registered company name, address and final controller details will be added before commercial launch. For now, privacy enquiries may be sent to [email protected].
2. Information we collect or receive
- Account and verification data: your phone number in international format, verification status, account status and account timestamps. The planned sign-in process uses WhatsApp: if you choose it, the WhatsApp message you send, the sender phone number, message identifier and temporary verification-challenge records are processed to verify that you control the number.
- Search information: phone numbers you submit for lookup, the time of the request and limited technical/security logs needed to operate and protect the service. The public website currently presents a demonstration-style preview; it does not provide a live public phone-number search.
- Community contributions: tags or names associated with a number, spam-report category and any details you submit, along with timestamps and internal records identifying the account that submitted the contribution.
- Contacts you choose to sync: if contact syncing is released and you affirmatively enable it after seeing an in-app explanation, the app may transmit contact names and phone numbers from your address book to our servers. The exact fields and processing will be stated in the consent screen before the feature is enabled. Contact syncing is optional.
- Device and technical data: app version, platform, request metadata, diagnostic information and security events such as repeated failed verification attempts or unusual submission activity.
- Support communications: information you include when contacting us, once an official support channel is published.
3. How contact syncing works
Contact syncing is not required to create an account or use features that do not depend on it. If and when this feature is made available, it will be off unless you choose to enable it and grant the relevant device permission. After your consent, selected contact names and phone numbers may be uploaded to Numberli's servers and processed to match numbers and support the phone-number lookup database.
This is server-side processing, not merely on-device matching. We do not intend to publish your address book as a list of your contacts, show other users your private address book, sell contact lists, or use synced contacts for unrelated advertising. A number or tag derived from a contribution may appear in a lookup result as community information, subject to the product's privacy controls and applicable law. We will explain the exact data fields, purpose and retention before asking for consent.
You can decline syncing and, when the feature is available, withdraw consent or disable future syncing through the app. Turning syncing off stops future syncs; it does not automatically remove information already contributed to the shared lookup database. You may separately submit a privacy or deletion request as described below.
4. Tags, reports and information about other people
Numberli is designed to show community-contributed tags and spam signals associated with phone numbers. Contributions may be visible to other users in lookup results. Do not submit sensitive personal information, private conversations, financial details, government identifiers, medical information, passwords, or accusations you know to be false. A tag or report is an opinion or user-submitted signal, not verified proof of a person's identity or conduct.
We may normalize capitalization and repeated whitespace to avoid duplicate copies of the same tag. We may use automated checks to detect duplicate submissions, spam, suspicious sync activity and abuse. Internal contribution records may retain the submitting account's identifier and source so we can investigate abuse and preserve database integrity. That internal identifier is not intended to be shown publicly.
5. Why we use information
- Verify accounts and prevent unauthorized access.
- Provide phone-number lookup and, when released, caller-identification and spam-protection features.
- Store and display community tags and spam reports.
- Process optional contact syncing only after the required consent.
- Detect duplicates, fraud, automated abuse and violations of our Terms.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and secure the service.
- Respond to user requests, enforce our agreements and comply with legal obligations.
6. Legal grounds and your choices
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we will process information as necessary to provide a feature you request, on the basis of your consent for optional contact syncing, where necessary for legitimate interests such as service security and abuse prevention, or to comply with legal obligations. You can refuse optional contact syncing without being forced to upload your address book. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for future processing; withdrawal does not make earlier processing unlawful.
7. When information is shared
We may share limited information with service providers that host, secure or operate Numberli, and with Meta/WhatsApp when you use WhatsApp-based verification. Those providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy notices and, where required, our instructions and contractual safeguards. We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect users, rights and the service. We do not sell personal information or contact lists.
Community tags and spam reports may be displayed to other users as part of lookup results. Your private authentication data, full synced address book and internal risk/security records are not intended for public display.
8. International processing
Numberli's infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Before launch, we will identify the relevant operating entity, hosting location and applicable safeguards in this policy or an accompanying notice. Where required by law, we will use an appropriate legal mechanism for international transfers.
9. Retention and account deletion
The planned account-deletion process gives you a 30-day recovery period after you request deletion. During that period, the account is deactivated and you may be able to cancel the request and recover it. After 30 days, we intend to delete or de-identify account data that is no longer needed, subject to legal obligations, security needs and the exceptions below. The deletion workflow must be implemented and tested before it is offered as an active feature.
Some tags, number associations and spam signals may remain in the shared lookup database after an account is deleted, where permitted by law and where retention is necessary to preserve the community database. We may retain limited internal contribution provenance to prevent repeat abuse and maintain database integrity. This means deleting your account may not remove every contribution you previously submitted. We will provide a request channel to ask us to review a particular contribution, subject to legal rights and the rights of others.
Verification messages and challenge records are intended to be short-lived and deleted or invalidated after use or expiry. Security, audit, backup and support records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for their stated purpose or as required by law. Specific retention periods will be published before the relevant features launch; we do not claim that a complete retention schedule is currently operational.
10. Security
We intend to use encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, credential protection, security logging and access controls appropriate to the information processed. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We will investigate suspected incidents and make notifications where required by applicable law.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of or a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or complain to a data-protection authority. You may also ask us to review a tag or spam report associated with your number. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions and the need to protect other people's rights.
To make a request, use the Contact page at [email protected]: [email protected]. We may need to verify your control of the relevant account or number before acting. Do not send passwords, verification codes or identity documents unless we specifically request a secure method.
12. Children
Numberli is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone who is not legally permitted to use the service in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us through the published privacy channel.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service, features or legal requirements change. We will update the date and provide an appropriate notice for material changes. If a new use requires consent, we will request it where required rather than relying only on a policy update.
14. Contact and complaints
Privacy requests and questions should be sent to [email protected] or to the postal address of the operating entity once published. You may also use the Contact page. The company's registered legal name, registered address and final privacy contact details will be added after incorporation and before commercial launch.
